Function
Role Purpose
To provide technical and administrative support in conducting field and office-based research within the Population Health Department. Research Assistant II assists with data collection, entry, and preliminary analysis, ensuring high-quality and accurate data for projects that support DDI’s mission to advance public health and diabetes prevention through population-based research.
Responsibilities
- Support the design and execution of population-health and epidemiological studies.
- Conduct data collection through surveys, interviews, and clinical assessments.
- Perform literature reviews and produce summary documents and/or grids.
- Perform data entry, cleaning, and quality control in accordance with study protocols.
- Assist in organizing fieldwork logistics, recruitment, and participant scheduling.
- Maintain data confidentiality and follow ethical research guidelines.
- Prepare routine reports, tables, and summaries for departmental review.
- Provide technical assistance in the preparation of research instruments and documentation.
- Collaborate with Research Associates and Scientists to ensure workflow efficiency.
- Maintain accurate filing systems for research forms and consent documents.
- Support training activities for new field researchers and interns.
- Ensure adherence to DDI’s biosafety, quality, and ethical research standards.
- Assist in inventory management and ordering of research materials and supplies.
- Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to team-based activities.

Technical / Role-Specific Skills:
- Familiarity with research data-collection tools (e.g., REDCap, Epi Info, ODK).
- Basic knowledge of descriptive statistics and data-entry procedures.
- Understanding of ethical standards and human-subject research protection.
- Computer literacy in Microsoft Office and basic statistical programs.
Supervisory Responsibilities
None. Works under the direct supervision of the Head of Department or assigned Scientist.

Minimum Qualifications (Education and Experience)
- Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Statistics, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 3–5 years of research or field-data collection experience in a healthcare or academic setting.
