Function
As a team member of the Animal and Imaging Core facilities department, contribute to quality research outputs and conceptual support to projects.
Responsibilities
- Provide support to the Head of department with many of the tasks involved with the smooth running in compliance with DDI processes. Collaborate in taking action to address issues as they arise
- Conceptualize and conduct short-term experiments and research activities in support of broad-based/longitudinal research projects, ensuring consistency with established methodological approaches and models, adherence to project timelines, and completeness of documentation.
- Help manage regulatory and study-related essential documents such as study protocols, Case Report Forms, Informed Consent Forms, etc.; review documents for completeness, accuracy and compliance with protocol and appropriate regulations. Identify issues and take appropriate corrective action as necessary
- Assist in the compilation of study reports and appendices
- Conduct studies of related literature and research to support the design and implementation of projects and development of reports, ensuring conceptual relevance, comprehensiveness, and currency of information.
- Write and publish articles in peer-reviewed journals/digests that highlight findings from research and experimental activities ensuring consistency with the highest standards of academic publication and showcasing the Centre’s/Program’s scientific leadership.
- Design and organize databases along project frameworks and experimental research design that support overall research management, including the monitoring and evaluation of project inputs, actions and outcomes, as well as the subsequent integration of these databases to other databanks.
- Communicate to Program/Project team developments/progress and results of research activities ensuring that relevant information and issues in the implementation of projects/experiments are captured in as comprehensive and timely manner as possible.
- Utilize appropriate and current techniques/protocols in Molecular Biology to ensure integrity and security of experimental process, comprehensive documentation, and replicability of experimental procedures.
- Experience in molecular Biology techniques, including cloning ,invitro and invivo transfection systems.
- Experience in Animal handling including Zebrafish is an advantage.
- Experience in western, northern, southern blotting is a must.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Responsible to direct the work of technicians, assistants and associates
Required Skills and Expertise:
- Phd in Science
- 1-2 years of relevant experience
- Candidates with publications would be highly preferred
- Effective oral and written communication skills, used to interact with multiple stakeholders
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a team member within a multidisciplinary setting
- Effective planning, prioritization , problem solving and organizational skills
