Function
Objective
Research Technician II will directly report to the Principle Investigator/ Head of the Unit and work effectively with the other team members to achieve common objectives. Conducts research experimental tasks in the field of cellular and molecular biology in timely fashion and contributes to multiple research projects linked to cellular metabolism, diabetes and associated complications.

Responsibilities
Roles & Responsibilities
- Review, comprehend and comply to all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Quality Assurance (QA) standards for laboratory animal research.
- Conducts ELISA, Western blotting, conventional and real-time PCR, insulin sensitivity assays, Immunostaining.
- Performs cell culture experiments.
- Performs experimental animal work related to the projects, as needed.
- Executes experimental work in collaboration with other team members.
- Performs data analysis and communicates and presents scientific findings at lab. meetings.
- Maintains detailed experimental records and laboratory notebook.
- Troubleshoots and optimizes assays and maintains careful records.
- Performs general housekeeping tasks in the laboratory.
- Maintains inventory of reagents and chemicals.
- Performs other duties as assigned by scientist/unit head and Liaison with institute policies.
- Completes assigned tasks/targets within given deadlines.
Required Skills and Expertise:

Requirements
- Experience in molecular biology, functional genomics and gene expression analysis using different approaches.
- Animal work experience including handling drug treatment, tissue isolation.
- Bacteriology and tissue culture experience will be an asset.
- Master or BSc degree in biology, biochemistry or life sciences. At minimum, 2-4 years track record of lab experience. Familiarity with general cellular biology techniques, including PCR, ELISA, cell culture, transfection, media making, etc. Should be well organized, self-motivated and possess excellent time management skills. Flexibility required to work after regular working hours if needed.

Education
- Bachelor (B.Sc.) or higher qualification will be preferred with 5 years’ experience in research.
