Function
Masters degree in Bioinformatics or related subjects (Computer Science or Software Engineering or Health Sciences with experience in biomedical informatics).
Responsibilities
Some or all of the following qualities are expected:
a. Fluency in programming (Java, Perl, C, BioPerl in Unix/Linux environment) for applications in bioinformatics.
b. Experience with developing bioinformatics tools, with porting software tools across different platforms, and piping together different bioinformatics software tools.
c. Experience with integration of data across dipartite data resources (such as genome, proteome, biomedical and health information data resources).
c. Familiarity with genome databases (such as those relating to genome annotation) and biological & statistical software packages (such as gene annotation programs, and R) that are relevant for the study of bioinformatics. Programming ability to handle/implement/access these resources.
d. An ability to contribute to ongoing projects in terms of data analysis (e.g. statistical analysis, sequence data analysis, collation of results from different projects, etc).
Required Skills and Expertise:
The successful candidate is expected to have gained 1-2 years of bioinformatics work experience as evidenced by contributions to development of biomedical informatics products.
