Function
* In this role the Learning Center (LC) Technologist will work under the direction of the Education & Training Department Director and is responsible for interfacing with teachers to facilitate the integration of knowledge into teaching and learning by developing and conducting training classes on the software products and the supporting equipment.
* While maintaining training facility resources and equipment providing input and recommendations regarding its usage, and providing input/insight on ways to increase instructor’s use of technology as it positively impacts student performance in the classroom.
Responsibilities
* Work under the supervision of the Education and Training Director and assist in providing direction and guidance to the students enrolled in the University of Dundee (UoD) PG/Cert/Dip/M.Sc.
* Partner with faculty to develop/setup timely and effective digital learning materials.
* Interpret the faculty and student needs and produce instructional materials.
* Coordinate training efforts for faculty, staff, and students in the use of technology in service of student learning, including preparing materials, offering training sessions, and developing tutorials.
* Adapt and learn new procedures and software programs.
* Manage the development process of assigned courses and projects.
* Provide periodic reports on course development and other projects.
* Provide advice and counsel to the Director of Education & Training on the strategic and operational issues associated with the use of technology in service of learning.
* Assist in assessing the effectiveness of course materials that are produced.
* Provide methods for learning needs analysis to ensure the appropriateness of digital instructional materials.
Required Skills and Expertise:
* B.Sc. in Computer Science/Engineering.
* Two years’ experience in the design and development of technology-based instructional materials is required.
* Project management experience is required.
* Must have excellent facility and comfort working in the PC environment, the Web, and in learning new software.
* Excellent technology skills required in newer versions of computer software including MS Office (Word and Excel) and Google Apps; HTML, website development and maintenance (e.g., Macromedia Studio MX/Dreamweaver, Flash); presentation and multimedia software (e.g., Acrobat , Powerpoint).
* Needs to enjoy learning and experimenting with new technologies (e.g. digital equipment, video/data projectors, Smart-boards, video and web-conferencing.
* A plus to have knowledge of basic programming, emerging language/coding such as XML; image and graphic manipulation/editing (Photoshop); as well as specialty areas such as video and audio editing.
* Experience in troubleshooting issues related to the eLearning software and learning management system and technical problems arising from the audiovisual equipment.
* Excellent oral and written communication skills.
* Fluent in English language (spoken and written), knowledge of Arabic is a plus.
Other Comments:
Might be required to work flexible working hours, and in the weekends.
