Function
Tissue culture, nucleic acids (DNA, RNA) protein extractions
· Acquiring cell lines from commercial sources – relevant to on-going Diabetes Research Program. Expanding the cell lines and create our own BioBank.
· Collect blood and tissues from Diabetic patients for extraction of nucleic acid, proteins for future studies.
Data security – strict procedures to regulate the access to the stored information these includes user authorization procedure, password management, record of all users and special staff responsible for security. Stability of the data is ensured thru strict backup routines including mirroring of severs hard-disk and automatic daily data to external data backup source.
Responsibilities
- Sample collection, acquire informed consent form, bar-coding and record maintenance.
- Monitoring and tracking clinical data collection.
- Monitoring and tracking the biomaterials from collection to storage.
- Conduct validity checks for each study projects based on the requirements.
- Responsible for maintaining clinical sample data in a safe and confidential manner.
- Maintain cell line data-base inventory.
- Preparation of Standard Operating Procedure for all protocols used in the Tissue Bank Core Facility
- Acquiring cell lines from commercial sources – relevant to on-going Diabetes Research Program. Expanding the cell lines and create our own BioBank.
- Maintain and catalogue antibodies received in the Tissue Bank Core Facility.
- Preparation of standard operating procedures for all protocols used in the Tissue Bank Core Facility.
- Prepare the computerized inventory of all chemicals, equipments and consumables ordered and received for the Tissue Bank Core Facility.
- Compile Material Safety Data Sheet for all the chemicals received in the Core Facility.
- Collect blood and tissues from Diabetic patients for extraction of nucleic acid, proteins for future studies.
- Collect Serum and Plasma from Diabetic patients which will be stored in appropriate conditions for future studies.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Expertise:
Bachelor of Science
M Sc preferred
Other Comments:
Preference will be given to individual with computer skills and familiar with database.
