Function
Assist with setting and maintaining safety standards in DDI. Monitor and develop procedures and systems for health and safety compliance.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the management, development and maintenance of safety improvements for programs, functions and activities
- Monitor progress in objectives, goals and work plan to achieve objectives whilst regularly updating standards
- Assist in ensuring that the institute is meeting requirements and continuously improving its processes
- Assists in carrying out inspections of workplaces and takes necessary action to ensure compliance
- Assists in responding to and investigating concerns/complaints from workers/employers and assists in taking appropriate action
- Track and maintain a central repository of all emergency response incidents
- Assists in investigating accidents or injuries that occur in the workplace
- Assists in the establishment of workplace safety and health committees
- Assists in the delivery of related educational programs and disseminates information to the public. Assists in carrying out industrial hygiene surveys.
- Assists in the preparation of various reports, documents and forms
- Establish a plan and process to identify and control risks and hazards. Ensure processes adhere to legal requirements via Kuwait health and safety regulations, DDI project protocols, ethics and governance
- Assist with safety and health inspections by Kuwait fire department, ministry of health and other auditing bodies during their visits
- Provide up to date information on status of safety processes when required by the senior management and quarterly reviews
- Lists specific reporting requirements: system performance (audits and reviews), incidents and non-conformance, hazard identification, risk assessment, preventive and corrective actions, and any statutory (legal) requirements
- Other relevant duties as assigned by the direct supervisor.
Required Skills and Expertise:
- Previous experience in risk management
- Prior experience in preparation, maintenance and improvement initiatives
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills, negotiation, influencing and conflict resolution skills
- Fair knowledge in Microsoft applications (excel, word, power point)
- Good communications skills with the ability to talk with multiple stakeholders
Other Comments:
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in any relevant field
- NEBOSH certification is mandatory (levels 1,2 and 3)
