Function
Candidate will lead the functional genomics research for biological and functional characterization of the novel genes that are discovered by the Dasman Genome Centre (DGC). Further, gene variants (novel & common) discovered by the DGC will be also characterized in the contest of the genes/regions/pathways through which these variants and novel genes exert their effect.
Responsibilities
- Participate in writing project updates and reports and scientific articles
- Identify research areas of interest to DDI and write proposals for investigating them
- Advice on scientific approach to the approved research projects and manages allotted resources
- Assist in management of budget allocated to specific projects
- Supervise postdoctoral fellows and research team members
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Required Skills and Expertise:
Education
Minimum of a Doctoral degree (PhD, MD) or an equivalent degree in a biological/scientific discipline, relevant to diabetes research or a similar field.
Experience and qualifications
Four or more years of directly related experience in the functional genomics, molecular and cell biology genetics research, with evidence of scientific productivity in form of institutional leadership and publications in reputable scientific journals.
