Function
Candidate will run next generation sequencing facility and supervise the operation of laboratories and supervises other technical staff. Performs genetic research functions and specialized sequencing techniques under the direction of a senior scientist and/or unit head
Responsibilities
- Carries out wide range of laboratory duties with minimum supervision
- Operate, maintain and calibrate specialized laboratory equipment maintaining a high-level of quality assurance
- use complex instruments and assist in selection of equipments and supplies
- Assemble, conduct, trouble shoot, calibrate, and maintain equipments
- Collaborate in research projects with staff, and contribute to overall team strategies
- Train and supervise students and technicians and evaluate their proper use of equipments
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Required Skills and Expertise:
Education
MS/B.S. degree in life or basic science or equivalent professional experience
Experience and qualifications:
Five years of relevant experience with BS, or three years with MS. Past experience must include high standard of technical expertise. Must be thoroughly familiar with genetic research methodologies and research equipments. Responsibility will include day-to-day operating and maintenance of the core equipments in the unit. Specifically, the post will involve operating next generation sequencing, and bead array equipments. Applicant must be highly motivated, and highly organized with preferable ttrack record of publications. Previous experience in sequencing techniques and operating Illumina next generation sequencers is a plus.
