Function

Manage all finance and accounting activities for Dasman; deliver timely and accurate financial and management accounting information to support the regulatory and business decision making process; lead the annual budget preparation and exert financial control; and implement financial planning, analysis, and decision support responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  1. Contribute towards development and implementation of all processes, policies, procedures and standards for finance and accounts, in relation to financial control, payments, settlements, contributions, and management reporting        
  2. Develop and establish the Chart of accounts for DDI, management information review formats, grant administration mechanism, and on an annual basis the financial budget.
  3. Oversee implementation of financial procedures and controls at DDI; ensure that all financial/accounting transactions are in compliance with the set policies, procedures, management and regulatory requirements 
  4. Ensure smooth inflow, outflow of documents / data required for effective financial  control and management reporting
  5. Develop effective budget formats and detailed budget guidelines for application and adherence of the same from division heads 
  6. Review critically, all expenditure requests and coordinate with requesting department to ensure necessary financial control 
  7. Manage budget consolidation on a timely basis for DDI, oversee monitoring of budget reports and address  variances if any 
  8. Evaluate, develop and administer all accounting systems and practices that comply with international and locally accepted accounting principles, regulations and local applicable laws   
  9. Lead the timely and accurate preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual balance sheet and profit and loss statements for DDI, including the drafting of the accompanying explanatory notes
  10. Oversee the bank, intercompany, and sub ledger reconciliations.
  11. Provide advice and guidance to managers and staff on the interpretation and implementation of financial regulations and accountancy codes of practice.
  12. Oversee the preparation of DDI financial statistical returns and financial analysis on a range of topics for internal and external use. . 
  13. Monitor the management information system to ensure that timely and accurate information is provided for managerial decision making regarding DDI.
  14. Supervise accounts payable functions, including payroll   
  15. Organize staff and work schedule; to ensure that the information is provided to the senior management on a timely basis, in the format requested and at the appropriate level of detail/breakdown.
  16. Establish the performance plans for direct subordinates including the Accountants; guide Assistant managers in establishing performance plans for their respective subordinates. 
  17. Participate in the identification of training and development initiatives for all employees within the Department.
  18. Drive the engagement and satisfaction of all employees within the Department through holding periodic meetings to discuss the achievements and address any employee issues and/or concerns. 

Required Skills and Expertise:

Education & Qualifications:

Bachelor of finance or accounting, Master’s Degree in Accounting or Finance is preferred.

Professional Certification is preferred (CPA/ CFA/ ACCA).
